Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity-Spokane brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

For 36 years we have been addressing one of today’s most urgent social issues: affordable housing.

About us

Habitat for Humanity partners with people in Spokane County, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

WITH YOUR HELP, families in partnership with Habitat for Humanity-Spokane can stand on their own, achieving stability and self-reliance of homeownership. Better, more affordable housing leads to stronger childhood development and creates the ability – and financial flexibility – for a family to make forward-looking choices.

Habitat for Humanity is an Empowerment Program.

All future Habitat-Spokane homeowners are modest-income families who are accepted based on their readiness to maintain an affordable mortgage and the willingness to invest time into building their own homes. We walk alongside each family on their journey with unique homeownership classes such as budgeting, insurance, legal issues, home maintenance, and more.

Our vision

The vision of Habitat for Humanity-Spokane is “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.” Habitat for Humanity’s role in realizing that vision is expressed in its mission: “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.”

Habitat for Humanity homes are decent AND affordable.

Every Habitat-Spokane home is built to meet the size and needs of each family in partnership. We build beyond the highest energy efficiency standards to reduce the monthly cost burden for homeowners and increase their future financial flexibility.

All are welcome

Habitat for Humanity-Spokane has an open-door policy. All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

Habitat for Humanity invests in the entire community.

A Habitat-Spokane home not only provides a strong foundation for low- to moderate-income families to stand on their own, but it also produces a ripple effect that revitalizes our neighborhoods by raising property values and supporting surrounding businesses.
